The kid from Queens
I'm currently a junior studying International Relations and Politics and Hispanic Studies with a minor in Cybersecurity. I am additional seeking a Master's in International Relations as part of the accelerated master's program. I've been in Student Senate since my freshman fall and have cherished every moment of it. During my sophomore year, I had the privilege of serving as the Chair of the Committee on Advocacy. Along with my fellow students, I pressed for increased attention to the growing disparity between diversity with inclusion. I worked hard to foster a system that provides survivors every resource necessary and challenged the proposed changes to the Title IX guidelines proposed by the Department of Education. I penned an open letter to survivors as part of SARVP (Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Prevention) Week and pushed for mandatory training. I worked with my colleagues and the administration to provide a mechanism for students to challenge the types of collaborative research being done at CMU and wrote a now passed initiative requiring tenure track candidates to write and submit a statement codifying their commitment to foster a diverse and inclusive space in academia as part of their consideration for tenure status. There is so much work to be done, and I cannot wait to work with all students to bring about the positive environment in which everyone can thrive.

I'm currently a junior double majoring in International Relations & Politics and Statistics & Data Science with a minor in Chinese Studies. I am involved in the Carnegie Mellon chapter of Alpha Phi (previously as the New Member Educator) and serve on the exec board of the Carnegie Mellon chapter of the Roosevelt Institute, a student organization that acts as a space to discuss and work on public policy and advocacy efforts. During my freshman and sophomore years at CMU, I had the pleasure of being elected as a Senator for Student Senate representing Dietrich College. I served on the Communications Committee, working on initiatives to improve the social media presence of the Student Senate and to increase Senate engagement with the student body. My goal is to make the office of the student body president accessible and transparent to the student body. I aim to foster a productive relationship between student representatives and the student body as well as stay informed on the change our constituents want to see.
